Hackensack is the most populated municipality and the county seat of Bergen County in New Jersey. The area has been referred to as Hackensack since the 18th century, but before 1921, it was known as New Barbadoes Township.

Brief History

Hackensack, the 4.6-square-mile seat of Bergen County, is located in northern New Jersey. The elevation above sea level ranges from three to 120 feet.
